Scanning can fail for multiple reasons. In most cases they are permanent and trying to scan the website again might not help.
Scanning fails temporarily when your website is taking too long to load. Such cases are usually temporary. And you can try scanning the same website after a few hours.

In case of the following, scanning will fail permanently:

  1. Geolocking. Some sites are blocked in some regions. So, if you are trying to scan a site which is blocked in your region, scanning will fail.
  2. Redirected sites. You will need to provide the actual URL of the live site for scanning. If you use URLs which are set to redirect to the actual sites, it will lead to failed scans.
